Save weapons.
« on: July 20, 2012, 02:03:14 pm »
How do you feel when you buy weapons worth 100k, and just timeout randomly, or crash? Yeah, everyone does!

The suggestion is to save the weapons players carry when they timeout.

Now, this can be abused in two ways:

The real abuse:
Forcefully timing themselves out so they can go to sleep and still have the weapons when the return.

I'm not sure of this, but not to use a timer, you could save the time the player timed out, and check the difference between the current time to calculate the total time they were away due to the "timeout". If it's more than the set amount, they loose their weapons.

Like I said, I'm not completely sure of this method, so I would like a PAWN scripter with a definite answer to answer this.

Then again, using a timer wouldn't be all that bad, as opposed to using a timer for auto-login, right? Plus, I provided a solution to that in my second post on Ge-Force's topic (last paragraph).

Not-so-real abuse:
Forcefully timing themselves out to change their skill/job and keep the weapons

Solution is simple! Make the weapons be given back only if they're using the same class/skill/job they were when they bought the weapons.

Feedback in!

Well it's a nice idea, but I think that the script can't remember times, only database...

But that's waht I think o.o

I believe the script can save the current time and day into a file or database? :| Not sure though.

Even so if they force the Timeout to go to sleep after a GMX happens they will not have there weapons anyways? GMX Restarts the whole thing so it will remove the Weapons...

Ah yeah, I didn't think of that. But, one could go to sleep and still not miss the GMX, right? I'm not sure.

The GMX occurs every game month. That's every twelve real hours.

So if a GMX occurs every 12 hours, I could go to sleep right after a GMX, and I'll be back before the next, right?

I'm not completely sure. I can't think straight right now, because I'm just about to fall asleep lol, it's 6A.M- and I haven't slept one bit.

You will still get a short amount of time with the weapons so in other words there is no point of this anyways... If they was to abuse or not...

Also... All it takes it 1/2 Places to be robbed to get enough money to buy guns/ammo...

Ah, I guess I agree. You're right!

So that would cut down a lot of scripting too. :P

My internet its on its peroid right now, like always. Well that would be hard to keep up with the peolpe that time out a lot.  Why not make it for backpacks only?
