Guide to Mods
« on: August 26, 2012, 10:28:37 am »
Credit where it's due:
Code: [Select]
4[903:931:9414] <04&Sylar> Ratzu,
4[903:931:9434] <04&Sylar> Go make guide.
4[903:931:9514] <04&Sylar> "how2mod?"

Well, let's get started. First of all make sure you have these four things:

WinRAR x86 or x64

Alci's IMG Editor 1.5

San Andreas Mod Installer

A mod you would like to install, here are some good websites for mods:
NFSUDesign
GTA Gaming
The GTA Place

Put the mod you downloaded into a folder (anywhere), you usually would make a folder on the desktop and move the mod inside.

Now that you have what you need, let's get our hands dirty.

Sections:
Installing Car Mods
Installing Tune-able Cars and Skins
Installing and Optimizing ENB Series

For Car Mods:

We have two ways to do this, the easy way (with San Andreas Mod Installer) and the hard way (with Alci's IMG Editor 1.5). SAMI has it's advantages, automatic backups and automatic installation, so we're going to be using this, but it only works for car mods, or mods that have a *.sami file included, most mods don't. We're going to be doing this with SAMI, because doing more work to accomplish the same thing is a waste of time.

Assuming you've already downloaded a mod, and SAMI, we're just going to start from the point where you start SAMI (Always start SAMI as an administrator).
You should see the following screen:

Click on "Install a mod"
The following screen should appear, tick folder (#1), and then click browse (#2), to browse for your mod (The folder I mentioned earlier).

Select the folder where the mod is located

Click OK
Then click "Continue", the following screen should appear:

You generally disregard the information on this screen, so click "Continue".

On the next screen, name the mod and select the car you want it to replace.
IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE THAT IF THE MOD IS A TWO DOOR VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE YOU REPLACE IS A TWO DOOR VEHICLE, AND SO ON.
If you don't, all I can say is: OPCOEDSSSSS :DDDD
On the next screen, simply click "Install."
Enjoy your car mod :>

For Everything Else (Including tune-able car mods and skins):

Well, here is when it gets a little bit harder, not too hard, but you have to think about what you're doing.

First of all, head over to you GTA SA folder then go to the models folder. Back up gta3.img.

Copy it, and paste it somewhere else.

After you've done this, open Alci's IMG Editor 1.5 (ALWAYS RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR) click open (Folder), and browse to your gta3.img (Not the backup), open it. You should see the following:

Click "Import (remove if exists)" (Green arrow pointing downward)
And browse for your mod's folder, then select ALL the DFF and TXD files inside of the mod's folder.

Then click "Open."
You should see the items you've imported in green text.

Then click Rebuild (Gear).

Wait for the archive to rebuild completely, and close Alci's IMG Editor.
The mod should be installed correctly.

ENB Series:

As I promised here is the guide to installing ENB, for those who can't quite figure it out.

First things first, get ENB Series.

After it's done downloading, open it with WinRAR.

After you've done so, open your GTA SA folder, and drag them into there (you only need to drag in d3d9.dll and enbseries.ini).

This next part is optional, but if you don't do it, ENB series will not only lag you to hell, but it'll also look like shit while it is lagging you to hell.

Open enbseries.ini, and replace the text inside with the following:
Code: [Select]
