Some intel I want to put aside of this attack while browsring netowrks forums about IRC and DDOS attacks:
'The most common attack delivered due to IRC anger is the DDOS attack. The majority of the time, (unless the person truly has no clue what they are doing), these attacks come from groups of zombie-computers, named botnets. What the attacker does, is customizes a trojan which when ran causes a computer to connect to a specified IRC server and channel, where the attacker sits and waits. As we all know, when an excessive amount of data is sent to a host, the server begins to choke up and eventually may crash. This is exactly what the attacker wants to do.
