ECNR 2.0
« on: March 07, 2015, 06:00:39 pm »
ECNR 2.0

With the release of ECNR 2.0, EGC enters a new era.

Rather than simply releasing a set of new features, we have re-engineered the core aspects of the gameplay to add new goals and breath new life into the ECNR experience. Where possible, the new features are accompanied by counter-features which encourage new player interactions and act as an extension to the overall gameplay, rather than a standalone feature.

I thoroughly look forward to seeing you in game, there's many a good time to be had!
Additional note: ECNR is now on the hosted list.

Law Enforcement

Changes
Criminals must be tackled to the ground before being placed in handcuffs.
Anyone can play as the cops now. You don't need 25 score anymore.
Removed /dropoff - /ar is now used to drop off a detained suspect when you arrive at the LVPD checkpoint.
The police radio is now audible when people rob stores and houses.

Cop Skill
It's about time the cops got some of the RPG action. Levels range from 1 to 90 with a whole host of unlockables as per the new XP system (more information below).

Law Enforcement has been divided into 5 categories:
•Normal Cops
•Undercover Cops
•FBI
•S.W.A.T
•Army

The regular cops are available to all players initially. All other tiers can be unlocked as you level up.
Note that you no longer have to be a regular player in order to use the army. The army is unlocked at Cop Skill Level 60.

As law enforcement depends heavily upon teamplay, all nearby officers will also receive an XP increase when a law enforcement action such as arresting a suspect takes place.

LVPD
LVPD now has an entirely new set of vehicles.

It's garage has also been split into three sections:
•Top Floor (General Operations)
•Basement section 1 (Undercover Operations)
•Basement section 2 (High Performance Undercover Vehicles)

Undercover Cops
We've added a number of new undercover cop skins.
Undercover cops are unlocked at cop skill level 20. This involves the usual radar blip colour change however at level 35, your skin is changed to a random civilian skin after entering the undercover vehicle.

To counter this, cops will not be able to go undercover if any civilian is in possession of a police radio. (Stolen using /robradio)

Tackling
Tackling places a fresh spin on the Cops and Robbers aspect of the game. There's nothing quite like the first time you watch someone being tackled from a distance, it's just hilarious.
Tackling is exactly what it says on the tin, when you're running towards a suspect and within range, simply press your crouch key (Usually C) and you'll go hurtling towards them like a human bullet.
Upon impact, the suspect will fall over and remain frozen for a short period of time, giving you an opportunity to place them in handcuffs.

As your cop skill increases, the distance from which you can tackle someone and the speed with which the tackling takes place increase gradually.

In support of this feature, the tazer has been nerfed. The tazer must also be unlocked (Cop skill level 48).

S.W.A.T
The Special Weapons and Tactics unit have arrived in Las Venturas as a result of a recent rise in domestic terrorism and violent crime.

SWAT is unlocked at Cop Skill level 50.
Unlike normal cops, SWAT use a variety of additional tools such as bomb defusal kits, weapon lasers, specially fitted helicopters and vehicles with integrated defense systems.

To facilitate their activities, the SWAT unit have a dedicated base, strategically located in central Las Venturas.
The base is complete with its own garage, secure entrance, helicopters and a dedicated armoury.

Click on any of the images for a larger version:

•If a player with a wanted level of 4 or higher enters a S.W.A.T vehicle, they will be automatically tazed by the onboard defence systems.
•While flying in a SWAT helicopter, any SWAT passengers can use /drop to slide down a rope from the helicopter towards the surface below.
•SWAT are able to defuse time bombs using the /defuse command. A health bar will be shown above the bomb to indicate progress.

The weapon laser can be activated using /laseron
/lasercol <color> can be used to set the laser's color to red, blue, pink, orange, green or yellow.

Army
The army is now available to all players and can be unlocked at Cop Skill level 60.
/airstrike, the andromada bomber, hydra, and /stealth are all unlockable.

We have three additions for the Army in 2.0.
•Tanks (Rhinos) - Hard to unlock because they're powerful!
•RC Vehicle Platform
•Automatic Drone Missile Things

The RC Vehicle Platform is an entirely new spawn position, situated over central Las Venturas. We thought this would be a pretty fun feature to add. Hopefully it'll bring a great deal of hilarity!
The platform has RC Barons and RC Goblins, the barons have their usual chain guns.
To make the goblins useful, we scripted some droppable bombs. You just left click and it's bombs away!

When inside the Area 69 missile control room, Army players can use /launch <id> to launch a missile at most wanted players.
Each launch will cost $50,000.

The missile will then automatically launch from one of the four missile launchers in the Area 69 base.
Your camera will follow the missile as it gains altitude, cruises towards the target and dives for impact.
Due to the large explosion, the missiles result in an almost guaranteed kill.
Note that the missiles have limited range due to fuel consumption and are unable to damage players inside interiors.

Robbers, Terrorists and Criminals

Rob Skill
Rob skill now takes advantage of the new XP system.

There are 60 Rob Skill levels (1 - 60) throughout which the various store robberies, vehicle dealerships, casinos, banks, ATMs and even houses burglary missions can be unlocked.

Credit/Bank Card Robberies
As an extension of the /rob command, at later levels, there is now a chance that you could steal the person's credit/bank card.
Once the card has been stolen, a chaotic series of events will unfold.

If the thief reaches the bank before the card holder, they are able to rob substantial amounts of money from the card holder's account.
If the owner of the card reaches the bank first, they are able to cancel the card, therefore preventing a loss of funds.

Note that the police won't be very happy if they find you carrying a stolen bank card. (/search)

Time Bombs
Time bombs are available to purchase at the LV Pirate Ship.
There are three types of bombs available for purchase.

After purchasing a time bomb, the bomb can be planted at any location using /plant.
The countdown to its detonation will then begin. During this time, the timer will update every second. It even makes a ticking noise!
Note that during this time, the bomb will be vulnerable to the SWAT. Don't leave your bomb undefended, they might defuse it.

Explosives
•Weak
•Moderate
•Devastating

The three explosive bomb types result in a series of massive explosions. The stronger bombs cause significantly more damage, have a longer countdown and take longer to defuse.

Additionally, chemical time bombs are also available. When a chemical bomb detonates, it creates an area of contamination which persists for several minutes. All players who are in the area during this time will suffer from a gradual loss of health.

Contaminated area:

Robbable NPCs
Every store/shop now has staff, represented by an NPC.
To rob a store, you simply aim at the staff and wait for the countdown to complete.

There is a chance that the staff will trigger the alarm and run out, in which case the alarm will be audible.
Don't look away from the staff either, this will cause them to set off the alarm.

During the robbery, a progress bar will be shown.

We've used several different skins to represent the staff, each with their own male or female voices.

Thief HQ
The Thief HQ is the centre of criminal operations.
The Theif HQ can be found here, he offers a variety of items that will contribute towards your criminal activities.

Stolen TVs can also be brought here and sold to the master thief.

House Burglary
Since we've added houses (More on that later), we thought burglary would be good too!

It's pretty simple. You need a crowbar or lockpick, which you can get from the Theif HQ. You can use this to get inside someone's house.
After that, just walk up to their TV and press Left ALT. Take the TV outside and place it inside your vehicle of choice, again, using ALT.

TVs have variable value depending upon the level of house from which they were stolen.
Almost any vehicle can be used to transport TVs, but they all hold different amounts of TVs.
When you've got enough TVs, just take them to the Thief HQ and cash them in.

Note that someone could drive away with your car/van while you're inside a house, therefore driving away with your collection of TVs.
To counter this, we recommend that you cooperate with at least one other person. When you sell the TVs, everyone will get the same reward.
(I can't wait to see some organisation filling up a bus with TVs :P)

If someone breaks into your house, you are welcome to kill them. This is not against the rules.

Houses
We've added a completely new housing system. It is now possible to own a house, and indeed multiple houses using in-game currency.

There are currently 121 houses scattered around Las Venturas although we can add more if necessary in the future.

•Anyone with enough money can start renting a house.
•The value of a house is variable, depending upon its location and desirability.
•When you start renting a house, it will initially be a level 1 house.
•Your rent must be paid once per real life week, for at least 6 weeks.
•Each time the rent is paid, the house will level up.
•At level 6, you have the option to buy the house outright.

It is only possible to rent one house at a time, however you can own as many houses as you wish. (By purchasing them at level 6)

As your house levels up, it will become harder for burglars to break in and more interiors will become available.
You are welcome to switch between the available interiors at any time:

You can ring someone's doorbell and the owner will be prompted to accept or deny your request to enter if they're at home.
Everyone inside will hear the bell ring.

Note that Law Enforcement can forcibly enter if you are hiding inside.

House entrance:

Vacant houes are shown as green house icons on the map/radar, occupied houses are shown as red icons:

So... There are houses. Why would I want a house?
We couldn't just add houses. What's the point in owning a house for the sake of it?

The solution was...

Sleeping
If you don't own a house, you're in for a nasty surprise next time you log in.

When you log out while you're not inside your house, you have to sleep outside:

While you're asleep, any criminal can approach your pile of boxes and press the 'Y' key for an easy robbery.
This is just like being robbed with /rob, however there is a very high chance that the criminal will also find your credit/bank card.
If you get robbed, your pile of boxes will dissapear.

To counteract this, you must log out while inside your house. If you log out in an interior, you will be placed in a busy area of Las Venturas.
Otherwise, your pile of boxes will appear where you were before you logged out.
Note that your boxes will not spawn if you don't disconnect correctly. (To avoid unfair robberies).

RPG Style XP System
As part of our effort to add more goals and objectives, as well as add logevity to the experience, we've completely overhauled the XP and stats system.

This feature sees the introduction of Cop Skill, as well as a complete transformation of Rob Skill and Terrorist Skill.

When you gain XP, it looks like this:

If you level up, a message appears above your head to let other players know. It also makes a very satisfying sound!
In true RPG style, the amount of XP required to advance from one level to another increases exponentially.

We've also added the /unlocks command to show when things are unlocked.
/skills can also be used to show the top scores:

New Rank
Players who reach the Legend status (10k + score) are now eligible to obtain the "Legendary Billionaire" status. This can be achieved by reaching 10k score and having One Billion Dollars or more in your bank account.

Your status is displayed next to your name in the chat, for example [EXPERIENCED].

Jail
The jail system has been completely re-created.
Instead of all players being placed in the same cell, you are now placed in a random jail cell.

We've added a new jail countdown textdraw:

The jail times have been increased slightly. Every 1 wanted level will add a short amount of time to your sentence, however this is capped to prevent lengthy sentences.

Kidnapping
•You can now kidnap players by hitting them with a shovel.
•The kidnapping system has been drastically improved and re-wrote.

Skin Changes
•Added some new civilian skins.
•The Bistro skins and job has been removed. The Skin has been replaced with a normal civilian skin. All relevant commands etc, have been removed.
•The Jail turn key has character been replaced too. We've kept the skin and it is now used for the cops.
•Bounty Hunters/casino security is removed. The skins are now used as undercover cops.
•SWAT Skin is now exclusively used for SWAT.

Other Improvements
The location system is now more accurate. The location will also be accurate for players inside interiors.
All player information is automatically saved every 5 minutes to protect against server crashes.
When playing as waste collection, /commands now displays /trashintro in addition to the other commands.
Removed /sewer - /escape is now the global command used for escaping prison. /breakout is still used to break others out from Green Haven.
The class selection list now remembers where you last were. You don't have to scroll from the start every time.
You can now /ignore and /unignore people. This will stop you seeing what they say in main chat and stop them from pm'ing you.

Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug that caused players to get stuck in jail forever, without a countdown.
Fixed an Andromada bomber bug where the textdraw wouldn't hide correctly.
You can no longer give someone else your tazer.
/cutrope could be used without having scissors.
/fix can no longer be spammed to gain score.
/fillup can no longer be spammed to gain score.
/blow can no longer be spammed to gain score.
Events end correctly for everyone now.
/fix can no longer be spammed to gain lots of score.
When exiting /stealth, the colour of other players is no longer affected.
The criminal skill selection menu is now hidden upon death.

Also note a significant amount of features were added and forgotten. We stupidly did not keep a list of these additions.

If you happen to notice any that aren't on this list, feel free to let us know and we will update the main post.

Enjoy the new beginning lads.

I would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who has been playing recently. I've thoroughly enjoyed releasing this update. Several nights of sleep were lost due to excitement before the release lmao

List of bugs found and fixed since the release:

•People would be banned for spawning "Weapon with ID ..." incorrectly.
•People would be unjailed after spawning in 2.0 for the first time. (Including old & new players)
•Cops weren't getting XP for killing people.
•Some terrorist actions were possible without leveling up.
•Some terrorist actions required the wrong level
•People would spawn back where they were before they got arrested, after being unjailed.
•After leaving the jail interior, people wouldn't be unfrozen.
•People wouldn't loose a stolen credit card if they die.
•The cops couldn't search people for stolen credit cards.
•The IRC bots would stop sending messages to IRC after a while.
•/asay wasn't working
•If someone rings the doorbell, anyone inside a house could allow the person to enter.
•Suspects were always sent to LVPD or the Mount Joy (Ireland) regardless of their wanted level

Small change: All of the new players seemed to be spawning as cops because it was the first thing on the class selection list. When you connect, a random class will be shown now.

Things are looking very stable at this point, thanks for reporting any bugs that you found.
As always, report any bugs here.
