On Duty and Off Duty Commands for Cops
« on: March 07, 2013, 09:51:38 pm »
I have seen many players rage at cops that say that they are off duty and next second arrest the player.

I came up with the idea for cops to have an on and off duty command. Like /copon that says the officer is on duty, and the /copoff that says the officer is off duty, And anytime an officer that does /cuff if they are off duty, A message would pop up saying "You are currently off duty and can not arrest this player, to go back on duty type /copon"

So again I think this may keep criminals from raging at cops who arrested them after they were said to have been off duty.

Hopefully you guys like this idea, cause I do and I think it can work

This would nullify some 'corrupt' cops tho... I'd say this is a decent addition but not neccesary. Criminal should always distrust police...
Following scenario;
Cop is offduty, rides along a criminal, then goes /onduty when the criminal is out of range of vehicles and arrests him.
Scenario 2; new player, woohoo hit 50 score! I can play cop class! /cuff on criminal... Wait... Why doesn't this work... What is going on?!?!?!?!? Rage-dm-spree

Decent suggestion, for a rp server... Not for a server like this imo!

Hmm...I was all for this idea, Cookie brought up some great points though. Any counter ideas?

The way I pictured it working was, it took about Fifteen seconds for you to go on Duty, to avoid it being abused. "Oh look I'm off duty" Boom, they go on duty and arrest.

I don't have any counter ideas. I can leave it up to other people who are responding to this, suggest an counter idea and see where we can take it from there.

We can do a poll to see who wants and who doesn't :o I really like the idea and think it will be good, also there is the issue where if the cop says he/she is off-duty and a criminal doesn't believe it, the criminal will shoot the cop in thinking the officer will shoot/cuff the criminal (sorry if it doesn't make sense).

This is just like the armywarn, eh? I agree with this. (and the armywarn should be like this, if we did armywarn we can get into hydras and stuff, and kill reds, but if not we cant cuff or stuff.)
