Announcements / Public Accessibility
« on: February 01, 2013, 02:06:08 am »
The server is now available to the public, in an attempt to revive the server's activity.
You can view the server listing here, we might post on some more websites in the future.
We've already had at least five new players who look likely to return in the long run with plenty of new players showing up tonight. Not bad for the first few hours! lol

In light of this change, we have doubled the world size, increased the server capacity to 32, bolstered our anti-griefing defences and installed an anti-advertisement plugin.

As ever, please be nice to the new guys!
Happy crafting.

EGCM Guides / Updating Tekkit
« on: January 01, 2013, 04:56:09 pm »
As the server has recently been updated to Tekkit 3.1.3, you might need a hand updating your Tekkit installation!

Just open your Technic Launcher, click options (found below the login button) then set it up as follows.

Downgrading from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2
Set your build to 3.1.2 and attempt to play.
If you get any errors, browse to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\.techniclauncher\tekkit
and back up any save games that you have. Note, this path may be different depending on your OS. Windows XP, for example is C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\...

After backing up any save games (or if you don't have any) proceed to delete the Tekkit folder
(C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\.techniclauncher\tekkit)
as well as the cache folder
(C:\Users\WatakiWatako\AppData\Roaming\.techniclauncher\cache)
Make sure that the Technic Launcher is not running while you are doing so.

Start up the launcher again, let it download Tekkit 3.1.2 and you'll be good to go.

Well, the server seems to have come to a halt. I guess we're all bored of the current world!
So... What shall we do now? Leave a reply and cast your vote.

See you in the new world!

Meanwhile, EGCM is running Vanilla Minecraft 1.4.6 in creative mode.

Videos / 22/9/2012 - LVAP Race Event
« on: September 23, 2012, 12:23:16 am »
Rage_Quit won the event, Paranoid was in 2nd place. I was unable to keep track of third place, perhaps someone can analyse the video and produce a result!

Anyhow, here's a rather boring, harshly edited video showing an aerial view of LVAP during the ten lap race event.

Announcements / The Plan
« on: September 07, 2012, 06:38:57 pm »
Here's the first server announcement. Probably should've made it a while back but hay-ho.

There has been some confusion... Apparently lol
FGRPG is a light role play CNR server. It is currently under development, there is no publicly available server as of yet.
That said, I made fantastic progress during the summer holidays and I'm glad to say, it's almost ready for release. The only challenge now is finding time to finish it off. With school having resumed and all that, I'm rather busy.

So aye... I still can't specify a release date. Dunno when I'll be able to find the time to take care of things or how long it'll take to do. What's been done so far has quite frankly, got me rather excited. lol
Meanwhile, you've got ECNR to keep you busy.

All the best,
WatakiWatako

Fixed / Player Data Loss
« on: August 16, 2012, 06:29:54 pm »
Symptoms: Upon logging in, the effected player 'might' be asked to re-register their account. Whether they do so or not, it appears that their data is missing from the database.

This is a known issue, I spent months looking for an easy fix. Beyond scrapping the current MySQL stuff and paying close attention to variable resets, I have no suggestions. This has effected quite a few players in the last few days.

Good luck Stevo!

General Server Discussion / Proposed Jail Sentences
« on: August 02, 2012, 12:08:56 am »
Shown below is a graph of the proposed jail sentence durations.

Graph of Wanted Level (X) against Sentence Duration (Y)
Wanted Level - Measured in increments
Sentence Duration - Measured in minutes

(Please click the image to enlarge it!)

It's a direct relationship between the Wanted Level and Jail Time.
Note that players can't actually be jailed until after wanted level 4, this constitutes a minimum sentence of 36 seconds. Scaling up to 15 minutes at wanted level 100. The graph could be extended further regardless of the wanted level.

With this formula, the criminals get exactly what they deserve. It's harsh and that's the way I want it to be. The price of being arrested should be high if the crimes are of great extent. Therefore, it's up to the player to ensure that they are not arrested.

Additionally, players who are entitled to a sentence upwards of four minutes cannot evade the penalty by death. They will be jailed regardless.

Hopefully you approve. Given that this server is a "light RPG server" I intend to follow through with the suitable specifications.

General Server Discussion / The Jail Sentence Formula
« on: July 21, 2012, 06:32:23 pm »
So... I might as well ask now. What sort of Jail sentences are we looking for?
I honestly preferred having the longer sentences (upwards of three minutes) on CRRPG's script before the changes were made.

However, this is a completely new server and it's up to you guys what we do. Bear in mind that it is a Cops and Robbers server with a hint of RPG. I highly doubt many of you will be asking for true RPG style sentences that can last up to a whole 24 hours! :P

We could have a formula that calculates the length of the sentence based on your wanted level, the higher it is, the longer you're in jail. With no limits. I want to know what you're after, get posting!
